Name and Profession:
Daisy Splash - Impatient amusement park tour guide
Gender: Female
Personality Characteristics: Spunky is the word to describe Daisy. She is opinionated, and has something important to say about everything. She is a fast moving lady, in that she drives fast, talks fast, and she moves her hands all the time. Daisy is kind-hearted, and is genuinely interested if someone really has a different opinion. She loves to learn and asks other people lots of questions. However, Daisy can be impatient and will hurry others in conversation, in line at the food buffet, in making a decision. Nobody or nothing moves quite as quickly as Daisy likes.
Background: Daisy had an early career as a journalist, and then suffered a painful health setback when she broke a limb while bungee jumping. Mainstream medicine never seemed to take away her pain, and so she gravitated towards alternative healthcare. She found not only relief, but also a new career path. Currently she is studying for her certification and licensure as an acupuncture therapist, while working as an amusement park guide to make ends meet.
Playing this character: Talk, talk, talk and do it as quickly as you can. Use your hands to further express yourself, as well as to reach out to others and draw them in. Talk about yourself, your ideas, opinions, your work and school. Ask other people many questions, but occasionally interrupt them to ask different questions before they are through answering the first one. Never let it get quiet around you. If anyone comments that you seem hyperactive, tell them that you are working on balancing your liver meridian. Move people along and get things going. Whenever something is about to start, go around herding everyone with "come on, come on, come, let's go, we don't got all day, come on, come on!"
Motive:
Daisy just wants to be able to go to school full time without having to
work so hard. She feels that since she is someone who has always helped
the world through her activities, the world won't mind helping back
just
this once.
Name and Profession: Jim "hit me" Quinn - Professional gambler on the run
Gender: Male
Personality Characteristics: Jim Quinn seems on the edge to most people who talk to him, as he is always (literally) looking over his shoulder. He talks and moves fast and displays much enthusiasm about whatever the topic of conversation is. He is friendly in a teasing sort of way, always trying to get others to see another side. He enjoys bragging about his gambling and considers it a skill equal to those used by any professional athlete.
Background: Jim was an army brat, moving to 8 different homes during his growing up years. He developed distaste for the rigid, military structure and lifestyle that his father thrived in. Though his brother and sister went on to college, Jim left for a life of adventure at the first chance. At 18, he joined a traveling circus and went as far as Las Vegas. There he planted himself, and learned to gamble, scam and play people like a game of checkers. He enjoys his life. However, the down side is, it brings dramatic ups and downs in income, and keeps him from being too emotionally involved with anyone.
Playing this character: Tell folks that your gambling began as a hobby that helped you to relax on the weekends. You were so good that within a year you didn't have to work at a "regular job" anymore. Talk fast, and shift your physical position often. Look over your shoulder and around the room, as if you are concerned that someone may be looking for you. Rub your hands together and fiddle with your fingers. If someone expresses an opinion, suggest that just the opposite might be true, just for fun. If anyone gets upset over this, tell them you were just "playing" and didn't mean anything by it. Wear sunglasses if you have them.
Motive:
Jim owes a gargantuan sum of money to a Vegas loan shark. Thus far, he's
always been able to win just enough to stay even with the shark, but this
time his number may be up. He is gambling that he may get away with stealing.
